Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Johor voters to select leaders who embody integrity and wisdom while rejecting arrogance once in power, during a Pakatan Harapan rally in Muar on June 15. He cautioned that the choice of elected representatives significantly shapes a state's trajectory, and warned that certain factions resort to racial manipulation to gain support before neglecting their obligations to constituents after winning office.
Addressing concerns about divisive politics, Anwar urged voters to think critically about the nation's future and its impact on coming generations, from education to healthcare. He stated that leaders must prioritise addressing public hardship rather than displaying overconfidence following electoral victory, with focus redirected toward tackling the challenges experienced by ordinary citizens.
Anwar underscored that a Pakatan Harapan victory in the Johor state election would enable policy synchronisation between state and federal authorities. This alignment, he explained, would facilitate negotiations, resource distribution, and ensure grassroots communities benefit fully from major economic initiatives including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and Port of Tanjung Pelepas expansion.
While acknowledging the existing state government's contribution to these projects, the Prime Minister stressed that federal-level execution had been instrumental. He pledged continued federal oversight of these developments while calling for state representatives and exco members to concentrate on improving conditions for ordinary residents.
Anwar appealed to all eligible Johor voters, particularly those based outside the state, to return home and participate in the July 11 election. He emphasised that every vote carries significance in driving policy reform and widening economic benefits for the population.
