Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a permanent housing development at Bukit Kiara Longhouse, marking a major step forward in resolving a resettlement dispute that has spanned more than four decades. The initiative will provide two housing units at no cost to each eligible family from the community.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, who also serves as Member of Parliament for Sungai Buloh, described the outcome as evidence of government resolve to prevent long-standing social grievances from persisting across generations. He underscored that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's decision represents a firm stance against prolonging hardship for disadvantaged populations.

The broader initiative encompasses an additional RM1 million allocation directed to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for maintenance work throughout the surrounding area across a three-year timeframe. Despite the project's relatively limited financial scale, Ramanan emphasised that its practical significance for residents who have endured extended waits for adequate shelter is substantial.

The path toward resolution involved sustained legal advocacy initiated by community representatives beginning in 2018, culminating in an arrangement that balances resident welfare with environmental conservation concerns. The settlement preserves Taman Rimba Kiara while addressing housing needs, avoiding earlier development proposals that had raised sustainability questions.
