Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has underscored the importance of ensuring that national development benefits all segments of Malaysian society, with emphasis on reaching communities at the grassroots level. Speaking at a Hi-Tea gathering with fishing communities, farmers and residents at Pantai Leka Food Court in Muar on June 15, Anwar highlighted that inclusive growth requires leaders to actively engage with people on the ground and understand their concerns.
The nation's advancement cannot be confined to large infrastructure projects or cutting-edge technological initiatives alone, the Prime Minister stressed. Instead, prosperity must extend tangibly to agricultural workers, fishing communities, rice farmers and small-scale business operators whose livelihoods form the backbone of rural Malaysia.
While acknowledging the relevance of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation for long-term competitiveness, Anwar reaffirmed that the MADANI Government maintains focus on raising living standards and income levels in rural regions. He noted that government agencies continue channelling social protection schemes and targeted assistance to vulnerable populations through established mechanisms.
Anwar called upon Cabinet members and political leaders nationwide to venture into communities regularly, listen directly to resident grievances and respond swiftly to identified challenges. He characterised this hands-on approach as integral to responsible governance and ensuring that no demographic becomes excluded from national modernisation efforts.
The Prime Minister stressed that courageous leadership demands advocating publicly for the needs of economically disadvantaged populations. Through such commitment, he argued, Malaysia can achieve balanced development that enriches all citizens rather than concentrating gains among privileged segments.
