Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has urged MADANI Communities nationwide to take on a shared responsibility for ensuring citizens receive trustworthy and well-verified information about the government's policies, programmes and accomplishments.

Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, Fahmi stressed that this role should not fall exclusively on government bodies such as the Information Department (JAPEN) and the Community Communications Department (J-KOM). Rather, community organisations must actively participate in communicating policy outcomes to their constituents.

The minister pointed to several government accomplishments deserving wider publicity. These include food security measures undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, which has maintained adequate rice stocks during major festivals, and the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS), managed by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, that has made subsidised cooking oil readily accessible to households.

"These represent the fruits of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership and must be conveyed to the people by MADANI Communities," Fahmi remarked. The occasion also saw him handing appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 period.

To strengthen grassroots communication efforts, the Communications Ministry intends to hold frequent briefing sessions to update community leaders on evolving issues and government initiatives requiring public dissemination. JAPEN has meanwhile been assigned to assess the effectiveness of MADANI Communities in their information-sharing role.

Fahmi warned that underperforming or inactive communities would face consequences. "We will instruct JAPEN to intervene promptly if any MADANI Community proves ineffective. When this occurs, we will implement the necessary reforms, which may include replacing officials who do not meet expectations," he said.
